AbstractThis book provides the foundation for understanding the theory and pracitce of compilers. Revised and updated, it reflects the current state of compilation. The text begins with an introduction to the principal ideas behind compilation and then illustrates these ideas by constructing a simple one-pass compiler. Later on in the book, these ideas are amplified and advanced topics like syntax analysis are also discussed. All new information in the book, including topics like code optimization and the garbage collection, comes together in case studies. Computer scientists and aspiring students that want to learn how to build, maintain, and execute a compiler for a major programming language.
