X Abstract

The article discusses the author's experience of trying out the LibraryThing (LT) online private access catalog, which, at its most basic, enables users to build their own Web-based online library catalog, using bibliographic records from Amazon.com, the Library of Congress, and more than 40 other major libraries and consortia. LibraryThing provides RSS feeds--information centers can use LT to notify clients of recently acquired books, clients can view LT users' reviews of books within the information center's collection, or they can look up new books with a specific tag.
