X Abstract

In this paper,an alternative method is proposed expand the usability of metamaterials by employing active elements to cancel losses and/or reduce dispersion. Since they can be designed in a more controllable fashion than their electrical counterparts, this work will focus on developing magnetic active particles capable of generating negative permeability metamaterials. However, the principles discussed in this paper can also be applied to obtain active electric materials.
